Aquatics and sports facilities have been one of our core areas of expertise for many years. Swimming facilities, in particular, hold a special place in our portfolio. Today, we are one of Sweden’s leading architects for aquatic centres, with projects including the aquatic centres Åbybadet, Lugnet, Timrå, Lögarängsbadet, and Burlövsbadet - all completed in recent years. Our experience extends well beyond aquatic facilities. Our portfolio also includes sports arenas with integrated gyms, restaurants, and wellness facilities, as well as a new concept for an immersive aquatic and recreation centre.
New family situations and lifestyles affect how and where we want to live. Similarly, urbanization and newly arrived citizens place demands on housing construction but also on how and where homes are designed. Needs are changing and today we see a greater demand for flexibility and social sustainability. We design homes where we place as much importance on life outside as inside the walls. The spaces that create meetings, joy and security. With the support of careful analyses, we adapt, place and plan homes with people in focus.
Building a strong brand around a building or development is key to creating distinction, establishing a clear identity, and attracting the right audiences. By communicating its unique qualities and values in a compelling way, a project becomes more memorable and more attractive to prospective tenants, buyers, and stakeholders. At Liljewall, our in-house team brings together expertise in graphic design, illustration, concept development, copywriting, print production, and web design. We help you communicate and market your buildings, businesses, and projects to strengthen their appeal - without the need for an external agency.
At Liljewall, we have extensive experience in designing dynamic sports and recreation environments that strengthen both individuals and communities. Our work spans every stage of the process, from early concepts and strategic planning to detailed, long-lasting design solutions, always with functionality and the user experience at its core. We create environments that inspire movement for everyone - from everyday exercisers to elite athletes, and provide safe, engaging settings for memorable events. We believe that healthy, inclusive environments are fundamental to a sustainable society, and that sport and public events have an important role to play in achieving this. Our ambition is for every space we design to enrich everyday life by making movement, recreation, and community accessible to as many people as possible.
Solving functional requirements in a precise and well-considered way is central to our practice. We have designed everything from combined heat and power plants, drawing on nearly 30 years of experience, to a wide range of industrial facilities, including warehouses, automotive workshops, and water treatment plants. Our expertise spans multiple sectors, allowing us to manage complex projects across a broad range of industrial contexts. A clear trend we see is the increasing focus on environmentally responsible solutions, with the aim of maximising recycling and resource recovery from waste streams. The focus is shifting towards a more sustainable industrial landscape, both socially and environmentally. We welcome this development and see it as an opportunity to rethink and innovate.
Every space we move through touches us and tells its own story. This ranges from workplaces where people spend their professional lives, to environments for growing up, experiences, encounters, and everyday life. Through our understanding of space, structure, and strategy, we help develop your vision. Clear, well-defined concepts communicate the unique qualities of each project. Joy, safety, and inclusion should not only characterise the environments we design, but also the way we collaborate. Guided by an inclusive and sustainable mindset, we design for the future.
Cultural heritage includes the built environment we pass on to future generations. This is the physical legacy that we collectively safeguard and manage with care. TThis is one of our key principles in contributing to a more sustainable world. We have many years of experience in the restoration, renovation, and adaptation of culturally and historically significant buildings and landscapes, and we are well acquainted with the complexity of these processes. Our expertise spans the entire process, from early planning and studies to detailed design and documentation. This gives us strong capabilities to develop creative, tailored solutions where new layers are added with great respect and sensitivity towards the existing.
Together with our customers, we shape and develop the city's green spaces and meeting places. With broad knowledge and active responsibility in all stages of the construction project, our landscape architects create the conditions for a vibrant, experiential outdoor environment. We combine ecological strategies with a holistic landscape view and careful detailing. Our goal is to create sustainable landscapes that, through strong design concepts and unique functional solutions, increase in value and beauty for a long time to come.
A well-designed and inspiring learning environment is fundamental to supporting effective education. At Liljewall, we are passionate about creating schools and educational environments where both students and teachers can thrive. By combining thoughtful architecture with sound educational principles, we design spaces that encourage creativity, collaboration, and focus. Every detail, from daylight and acoustics to ergonomics and flexibility, is carefully considered to support the learning experience. We believe that inspiring and functional learning environments provide the foundation for the knowledge society of tomorrow.
Light is one of the most important tools when we design environments. With the help of light, we create experiences and strengthen the identity of the place. It's about getting daylight and artificial light to work together to form a harmonious whole. At Liljewall we have four lighting designers who ensure that your project is lit correctly.
Our society is facing challenges in an increasingly aging population. The built environment must be designed based on increased life expectancy, while at the same time it needs to be adapted to changing individual needs for maximum well-being. Architecture, both in terms of buildings and landscapes, are, together with interior environments and lighting design, important tools for developing good living environments. We base our design of living environments for the elderly on research and experience, while at the same time we are driven by curiosity to develop the best care homes of tomorrow. At Liljewall, we want to work to break involuntary loneliness. We want to create safe and pleasant environments that work for different needs and desires.
We believe in fostering a collaborative working environment and creating an inspiring platform where open dialogue encourages everyone to contribute ideas and solutions. Engaging and motivating everyone involved is key to the success of any project. We support you every step of the way, from the initial feasibility study through design and delivery to occupancy and operation, ensuring your project is successfully realised within its unique requirements and constraints.
We work across the full spectrum of commercial developments, public buildings, workplaces, and business environments, providing planning, design, and project delivery. As a result, our portfolio ranges from state-of-the-art new buildings to successful refurbishments, adaptations, and transformations. The experience we have gained through these often complex projects is something we bring to every new commission. We see ourselves as a vital link between property owners and tenants, translating their ambitions and requirements into well-designed, deliverable solutions. With a thorough understanding of both stakeholders' needs and the processes that bring projects to completion, we help turn ideas into successful outcomes.
For us, urban planning and physical planning is about taking a holistic approach in the early stages where many perspectives must be weighed. We believe in knowing the details to understand the whole. Here, our breadth as a company, with specialists in different market areas, means that we can think ahead. With experience from a wide variety of urban development projects, from densification in urban environments to completion in suburban areas and development on completely new land, we help you lay the foundation for sustainable community development where urban environments with ecological, social and economic factors are weighed together. We support you from early ideas through land acquisition, concept development, planning documents, design and reuse – from A to Z and back again.

It sharpens our thinking, challenges our architecture, fosters new collaborations and, from time to time, allows our strongest ideas to become reality.
