Ängelholms stadshus

New construction / Recycling / Ängelholm

After winning together with SSEA in the Ängelholm municipality's architectural and construction competition, we are designing the city's new city hall. The goal is for the new city hall to be completed in 2028. We are involved from idea to finished building until then. With our proposal, we create architecture that will become a symbol of an open city in dialogue.

The interior of the city hall features natural materials, with the wood enhancing the qualities of the rooms both through its acoustic properties and giving a beautiful and inviting impression.

A vibrant meeting place

Inspired by the scenic surroundings of the nearby Kronoskogen Forest and the area’s existing buildings, the new city hall will blend into the city through a combination of brick and wood. Large glass areas also invite light into the city hall, where three building bodies angle towards the surroundings, providing many varied views. On the entrance floor is the heart of the building, the atrium, which will be a place where residents and visitors can meet and participate in community dialogue and engagement. With greenery, a water playground and beautiful outdoor terraces, a haven for relaxation and community is created – from the outside in and out.

Sustainable over time

The city hall is designed for good flexibility, adaptation and demountability. Wooden frame and recycled brick are leading materials and important ingredients for achieving low climate impact. The goal is for the building to be sustainability certified according to Breeam Excellent and Well Gold and create good conditions for social sustainability.

“Ängelholms stadshus is a building that plays with form and crafted details, while creating space for openness and meetings in the middle of the city.”
